Matured Jewelry Box Tastes

Every woman can look back and remember the time when she had her first little jewelry box. You know the one I am talking about. The pink or purple box covered in a satin like material and embellished with everything from sequin to embroidered designs to bead work. The lid opened to reveal a tiny pop up dancer and sometimes an off kilter tune. They were precious little boxes, the first we owned. The first to hold our dearest little treasures. The pearl bead necklaces, the Minnie Mouse watch, the plastic pink diamond ring and the teal and purple beaded bracelet. They were all delightful trinkets of immeasurable value, but like all things we out grew out little pink box and the plastic treasures inside.

Maturity has most likely blotted out the desire for a satin covered pink box, but as women we never quite outgrow our love of pretty treasures and a lovely place to keep them. With age our tastes have matured to include real pearl necklaces, diamond earrings, jade beaded bracelets and other more costly ornaments. As our jewelry preferences has matured so to has the to desire to keep these items in an organized and lovely box. Thankfully there are many different options that can replace the old pink keepsake.

More than likely, the pink box of childhood has been replaced by something more mature like a lovely wooden or leather jewelry box. The pop up dancer is gone but now you can marvel over things like the built in mirror, necklace drawers, ring holders and bracelet hooks. If you are still a fan of the color pink then perhaps a box with a pink interior...maybe harder to find, but very lovely and dainty nonetheless. While in childhood we were delighted by the glitter and glamour of our pink box we are now as adults tickled by all the little compartments, nooks, drawers and pouches of our modern jewelry box. While the box is different from our first one, the excitement and delight are still the same.

One of the great things about owning an "adult" jewelry box is the sheer diversity of choices available. As a child our choices were limited to a few different colors or patterns, but now that we are all grown up there are endless jewelry box options. We can buy wooden jewelry boxes that are carved or inlaid, we can buy jewelry boxes that are painted and showy, we can buy stained glass jewelry boxes. If we have limited dresser or counter top space we can even buy hanging jewelry boxes that include mirrors.

As adults we rarely get to experience the same kind of joy, fun or excitement as we did when we were children, but women can get a small portion of that forgotten fun and excitement. Just as we were once excited to get our pink or purple jewelry box with a pop up dancer we can again be just as excited for an elegant beautiful jewelry box. We can again be delighted to store our pretty treasures in a pretty place that makes us smile that simple little girl smile.
